Daniel A. Bechtold

March 7, 1959 – February 24, 2014

Daniel A. Bechtold was born on March 7, 1959 in South Bend, Indiana and was the oldest of three children. Dan and his family moved to Florida when he was a young boy and he lived in Sarasota until his death.

Dan began his education at the University of South Florida, where he received a B.S. in accounting in 1981. He became a Certified Public Accountant in 1983. Dan further pursued his education at the University of Florida receiving his Juris Doctorate (J.D.) in 1986. Dan was admitted to the Florida Bar in 1987 and received his Board Certification in Wills, Trusts and Estates from the Florida Bar in 2006. Dan practiced law for 27 years in Sarasota County. Dan was a Martindale Hubble AV Rated Attorney prior to his passing. Dan was a member of the Florida Bar, the Sarasota County Bar Association and the Florida Institute of Certified Public Accountants.

Dan was also an active member of the community. He served on several boards including the Boys & Girls Club Advisory Board, Mote Marine Advisory Board and Take Stock in Children. Dan had a special place in his heart for the youth in the community and mentored local children. Dan was highly respected by his peers and colleagues.

Dan thoroughly enjoyed jazz music and baseball. He pursued outdoor activities such as running, kayaking and bicycling. Dan had the wonderful qualities of high intelligence, sincerity and good humor. His laugh was contagious. He was a positive influence in the community and a dedicated family man to his wife, Lisa and his sons, Dylan and Kyle. He is missed.
